Republic Bank EC Limited is again partnering with Kay Kwéyòl to ensure the success of the 2026 edition of the National Kwéyòl Song Competition, Chanté Kwéyòl.

This much anticipated event on the Calendar of Activities celebrating Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl will take place on Saturday October 24, 2026 from 6:00 pm at Serenity Park in Sans Souci. This year, the event will feature 20 artistes competing for the Kwéyòl crown. This cadre of performers will bring to the stage a mixture of zouk, cadence, calypso, Dennery Segment, rap and reggae music all on the same stage.

Executive Director of Kay Kwéyòl, Caron Tobiere notes that “Chanté Kwéyòl is unique in its format. It is the only such event on the Saint Lucia entertainment calendar that brings together different genres of music competing on one stage.” It is this unique quality that has given the event it’s longevity. Having begun as a Kwéyòl calypso competition by Gordon “Chacom” Leon in 2012, Chanté Kwéyòl remains relevant 14 years later and is still the only such event celebrating Creole Heritage Month in Saint Lucia.

The event’s partnership with Republic Bank began four years ago and Tobiere indicates that without the financial support from Republic Bank, organisers would be hard-pressed to finance this significant event that not only celebrates Saint Lucia’s indigenous Kwéyòl language, but offers a performance platform to artistes who may not otherwise have this opportunity.
