VF South Tops SPFL Points Table

Vieux Fort South has celebrated a stellar week, securing two consecutive victories in this season’s SPFL challenge and climbing to the top of the Tier I points table.

On Wednesday, VF South edged past Mabouya Valley with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds in Gros Islet, marking a significant moment in their campaign for the SPFL championship.

Alfred scored the winning goal in the 65th minute, showcasing the team’s offensive capabilities. The 24-year-old former New Generation FC striker celebrated his league-leading sixth goal with impressive flair.

As the competition progresses into the fifth round of the SPFL’s third edition, VF South has maintained its winning momentum, thrilling fans with their dynamic play. VFS got past Central Castries 2-1 , on Monday.

In contrast, Mabouya Valley suffered their third loss in five matches and has yet to secure points on the table.

In another closely contested match on Wednesday evening, defending champions La Clery managed to overcome Dennery with a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
Yanic Noel opened the scoring for La Clery in the 11th minute from the penalty spot. Dennery responded quickly, with Elijah Joseph equalizing in the 23rd minute, setting the stage for an exciting battle.

However, in the 78th minute, Noel found the net once again, sealing the win for La Clery. His brace was pivotal in helping the team defend its championship title.

After dropping points against Anse La Raye last Saturday (August 29), La Clery is determined to rise to the challenge as VF South takes the lead at the top of the table.

VFS has moved to 14 points after playing six games. La Clery is closely following with 12 points from the same number of matches. Dennery, with a game in hand, currently sits in third place with 10 points, while Soufriere is in fourth with eight points. At the bottom of the table, Central Castries and Mabouya Valley occupy the ninth and tenth positions, respectively, solidly in the relegation zone.
