This week, the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) recognized two of the region’s cricketing stalwarts for their exemplary roles and performances in promoting the premier T20 franchise of the Caribbean.

Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop have been confirmed as the inaugural inductees into the newly established CPL Hall of Fame. Bravo is celebrated as the first player inducted, while Bishop is recognized in the non-player category for his invaluable contributions to the tournament’s success since its launch in 2013.

The launch of the CPL Hall of Fame marks a historic moment for Caribbean cricket, an honor created to celebrate those who have significantly shaped the tournament since its inception in 2013. Bravo and Bishop will make history as the first inductees during the landmark Hall of Fame Gala Dinner at The Hilton Hotel in Barbados on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.

Proceeds from the evening will support The Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation’s efforts to raise awareness and improve testing for prostate cancer throughout the Caribbean.

Dwayne Bravo: Inducted as a Player

Dwayne Bravo is revered as one of the icons who built T20 cricket, solidifying the CPL’s status as one of the greatest tournaments in the world. Widely regarded as one of the format’s finest, the Trinidadian all-rounder has won over 15 T20 titles worldwide during his illustrious 18-year career.

His accolades include two ICC Men’s T20 World Cups with the West Indies in 2012 and 2016, multiple Indian Premier League titles with Chennai Super Kings, and additional trophies from the Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League. Bravo made history as the first bowler to reach 500 T20 wickets.

In the CPL, he stands as the tournament’s third-highest wicket-taker with 129 wickets and is its most decorated player, having won five CPL titles with Trinbago Knight Riders (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020) and with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (2021), before adding a sixth title as head coach, guiding Trinbago Knight Riders to victory in 2025.

Ian Bishop: Inducted as a Non-Player

Ian Bishop has been the voice of Caribbean cricket, delivering electric commentary that has defined the sport. His iconic call, “Carlos Brathwaite! Remember the name!” during the 2016 ICC World T20 is just one example of his remarkable ability to bring the game to life. Bishop’s passion for both cricket and CPL has been vital for the tournament’s success, ultimately telling stories that resonate with fans around the globe.
