Junior League Football Sizzles Up

Junior league football on the island continues to draw enthusiastic players from across the region, all eager to leave a “lasting impression” on the game.

On Sunday, July 12, matches resumed in the SLFA Inc. Boys Under 14 District Football League competition.

At the Corinth Playing Field, Central Castries claimed a victory by default over South Castries.

In another exciting match, Gros Islet maintained their unbeaten streak with a thrilling 5–3 win against Anse La Raye after going into halftime trailing 0–1.

Barack Fedee shone for Gros Islet, scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 39th, 41st, and 55th minutes. Isaije Jn. Louis added two more goals for his team in the 46th and 70th minutes. Anse La Raye’s scoring came from Liam Danzie, who netted a brace in the 34th and 67th minutes, and Juan Frias, who found the back of the net in the 57th minute.

At the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Mabouya Valley triumphed over Desruisseaux with an impressive 7–2 scoreline. The goals for Mabouya Valley were scored by Tristan Moise (2nd minute), Deshawn Leon (17th), Zackim Francois (42nd), Kaydan Jn. Baptiste (44th), Jahim Duplesis (46th), Joses Wells (66th), and Dornell Edward (70th).

For Desruisseaux, Tyrese James and Hasani Eliotte each scored in the 18th and 38th minutes, respectively.

Unfortunately, Choiseul was unable to appear for their match against Dennery.

In a high-scoring affair, Vieux Fort South defeated Mon Repos with a staggering score of 10–3. Daelani

Germaine led the charge for Vieux Fort South with a hat-trick, finding the net in the 4th, 35th, and 45th minutes. Ozil Collymore also added three goals in the 57th, 66th, and 68th minutes. Jerrel Daniel scored in the 23rd minute, Hayden Lashley netted twice in the 1st and 4th minutes, Trevon Halls found the goal in the 52nd minute, and an own goal from Delani Hutchinson occurred in the 63rd minute.

For Mon Repos, Kade Francis scored twice in the 55th and 69th minutes, while Kerfanne Alexander added another in the 28th minute.
