The Rotary Club of Gros Islet will host its first Diabetes HealthFest on Saturday, 14th November 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Aquatic Centre Grounds. Guided by this year’s theme “Create Lasting Impact”, the event will focus on supporting children and teenagers living with diabetes while educating the public about childhood and adolescent diabetes.

The Diabetes HealthFest aims to raise awareness of the challenges young people face in managing diabetes and highlight the importance of early recognition, proper care and support from families, schools, healthcare professionals and the wider community.

Serving as consultant for the day will be Dr. Takira Glasgow, Patron of the St. Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association. Health specialists from the Ministry of Health will also be in attendance, alongside Dr. Joanna Pamphile-Albert, Dentist, Suzan Clovis-Freitas, owner of Studio Fit and Healthy 911, a Podiatrist and Pharmacist from Vision Express Medical, and members of the St. Lucia Diabetes and Hypertension Association, among other professionals.

Through this initiative, the Rotary Club of Gros Islet seeks to promote greater understanding of diabetes, encourage healthier lifestyles and foster a more supportive environment for children and teenagers living with the condition. The event will also provide the opportunity for families and members of the public to learn more about diabetes and the needs of young people living with diabetes.
