Aimed at girls of all ages from primary schools in the constituency, including those with no prior knowledge of the sport, the festival sought to showcase football’s beauty, its positive influence on mental and physical development, and the natural love for the game that can be nurtured through exposure.

Held under the inspiring theme “She’s Got Game, Inspire Her”, the event saw SLFA staff, under the blazing sun, guiding aspiring players through the fundamentals—rules, positions, tactics, ball control, and more. In essence, a beginner’s guide to football was being written in real time for all to witness.

Organized in collaboration with the Vieux Fort North Football League, the festival featured fun skill-based challenges, small-sided games, and free registration for local primary school girls, all led by former players and coaches. This initiative follows similar festivals held across Saint Lucia, including one in the capital, Castries.

The SLFA hopes that from this effort, a core group of girls will emerge to form a dedicated team in the constituency, training consistently and building a foundation for women’s football in the region.

Beyond learning that football is a team sport played between two sides of 11 players, the girls discovered its deeper essence—rules, tactics, and positions designed to enrich their experience and appreciation of the game.

By the end of the day, it was clear: a spark had been lit. For the girls of Vieux Fort North, football revealed itself not just as a sport, but as a source of joy, empowerment, and community.
