Gros Islet Demolishes Desruisseaux in PM Cup Cricket Tournament

Gros Islet lit up the Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds [FBLG] on March 3, with an exciting and remarkable performance signalling their intent for the tournament.

In their opening clash of the 2026 Prime Minister’s Cup, the home side demolished Desruisseaux by a staggering 265 runs, sending a clear message to the rest of the tournament; with two of its batters hit a double-century and a century respectively, as they piled on the runs.

From the outset , Gros Islet’s batsmen turned the contest into a spectacle. The spectators present roared as Noel Leo and Jard Goodman launched a record-breaking opening stand of 297 runs in just 102 balls. Boundaries flew to every corner of the ground, and the scoreboard kept on ticking.

Leo was the undisputed hero. His innings of 222 off 73 balls was nothing short of breath-taking, a masterclass in power hitting. With 17 fours and 22 towering sixes, he dismantled the bowling attack and left fans gasping in disbelief. Goodman was equally ruthless, smashing 102 from 42 balls with 7 fours and 10 sixes, ensuring the momentum never dipped.

Chasing 369 was always going to be a mountain, and Desruisseaux never found their footing. They limped to 104 for 8 in their 20 overs, with Swelan Auguste’s 33 and Jervel Dupre’s unbeaten 24 the only sparks of resistance.

The Gros Islet attack wrapped up the contest with precision and firepower. Isaiah Jones led the charge, claiming three for 15 in his four overs. Simeon Gerson backed him up with two for 27, while Darvin Forde and Lee John added one wicket apiece.
