St. Lucians have bought into the electric vehicle phenomenon that has stormed into the regional transportation industry. That is the sentiment coming out of last weekend’s EV Lucian 2025 display held at the ca park of Caribbean Cinemas in Castries.
The all-day event on Saturday began relatively slowly as prospective EV buyers trickled in and out of the grounds inspecting and testing the products on offer from the various car dealers. A trade expo also a feature of the elaborate showcase.
Transportation Minister Hon. Stephenson King, who spoke at the opening ceremony, heaped praise on the organizers while highlighting the need for public-private partnerships of this nature. The event was facilitated through corporation between Accela Marketing and the Government of St. Lucia.
The Minister spoke further on the importance of creating a greener, more sustainable environment. “Saint Lucians have a long tradition of resilience and innovation. By embracing electric vehicles, we can create new industries, save on fuel costs, and enjoy cleaner air for our children. This is a chance for our people to be agents of change. Let us work together – government, businesses, and citizens alike – to build the charging infrastructure and supportive policies needed for an electrified transport network,” he explained.

Industry professionals believe St. Lucia is well placed to meet the demands of an “enthusiastic EV market”. Albert Duncan is the Brand Manager for GWM at JQ Motors who is sure St. Lucia has exceeded expectations thus far. “I think we will see more sales in St. Lucia of electrified mobility models. The market is really warming up to technology. These vehicles offer significantly more than the old school models that we’ve had in the past so the average person, the younger generation, the ones who are buying their first time cars, they are the one coming and looking I think they will turn the tide in 3-5 years.”
EV Lucian 2025 provided attendees with the island’s largest-ever collection of electric and hybrid vehicles, with everything from scooters to powerful SUVs on display. Test drives, ride-alongs, and live educational workshops kept visitors engaged as they got up close with the technology shaping the future of mobility.

The event was also filled with entertainment and fun for the whole family. Fan favourites Ricky T and Dezral lit up the stage while a Kids’ Zone, local food and giveaways made the event feel like both a learning experience and a family fun day.
This year’s expo truly delivered on its promise of being a one-stop shop, with financial institutions, insurance companies, new and used EV dealers, home charger providers, solar energy experts, and green technology vendors all in one space, making it easy for curious visitors to ask questions, compare options, and get personalized guidance.

Many believe St. Lucia will be on par with the rest of the region in the near future.
