Eight dedicated Youth Development Practitioners have successfully completed the prestigious Level 4 CBET Certification, significantly enhancing their critical training skills.
The recent course workshop, themed “Skillful Steps Toward Achieving Success,” was conducted by the Saint Lucia Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The graduation ceremony, held on August 29 at the Financial Administrative Centre, celebrated 90 graduates from various disciplines. Among these were eight exceptional Youth Development Practitioners sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, who earned the globally recognized Level 4 Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) Methodology certification.
The distinguished graduates from the Ministry include: Kezia St. Brice-Isidore, Shem Hippolyte, Nyron Tayliam, Merlandra Wilson, Junior Delice (Youth of the Year 2019), Trevon Richard (Youth of the Year 2023), Kate Popo, and Lavorne Verdant-Desir.
The CBET Methodology qualification equips trainers with advanced skills to deliver results-driven, competency-based training. These graduates are now certified TVET trainers, empowered to strengthen Saint Lucia’s workforce, build youth capacity, and directly contribute to national and regional development.
This achievement is a key element of the Ministry’s strategy to professionalize youth development and align training with labor market demands.
Unlike traditional training models, CBET ensures participants earn qualifications only after fully mastering the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes—making the training purposeful and impactful.
The Ministry is further expanding this initiative by certifying 12 national trainers and supporting their progression toward the Level 4 Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in Youth Development Work, equivalent to an undergraduate-level certification.
“This achievement is not just personal success—it’s a national victory. By developing a stronger cadre of certified trainers, we prepare young people to not only dream but also to achieve and thrive in today’s global economy,” a Ministry representative emphasized.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports congratulates these graduates and anticipates the transformative changes they will initiate in youth and community development.
