
The 12th edition of the Caribbean Youth Film Festival (CYFF) Saint Lucia was officially launched in by Dove Productions on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Organized by Dove Productions, the festival will run from August 5 to 15, 2025 at the Anglican Church Annex and will feature workshops, film screenings and a youth short film competition.
Since its rebranding in 2016, CYFF has grown into a premier youth film platform in the region. Over the years, it has welcomed facilitators of international standing have shared their expertise in areas ranging from script development to film production and industry networking. This tradition of mentorship will continue in 2025, with a focus on giving participants practical, hands‑on training and will feature local facilitators like Dawn French among others.
The Short Film Competition will be a highlight of this year’s edition of the festival, inviting filmmakers up to submit entries of up to 10 minutes. Films will be judged in categories such as storyline, cinematography, directing and acting, with winners receiving both juried awards as well as cash prizes for top entries.
Looking ahead, program founder Colin Weekes expressed hopes of expanding the festival to recognize local film giants, further embedding Saint Lucia’s creative legacy within the festival’s framework. Organizers noted that registration for workshops and competition entries have been opened. Notwithstanding, the organizers have expressed thanks to their sponsors including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, 1st National Bank, the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund in addition to a host of others for making the Festival possible.
With its blend of mentorship, competition, and cultural celebration, CYFF Saint Lucia 2025 promises to be a dynamic platform for nurturing the region’s next generation of filmmakers.
