The formal appointment of Ms. St. Rose as King’s Counsel was officiated this week during a Special Sitting of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in the High Court of Justice, Saint Lucia.
Ms. St. Rose proudly holds the distinction of being the youngest Saint Lucian to receive this prestigious title, marking an inspiring achievement for the nation.
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, along with government officials and legal practitioners, attended the ceremony.
He commended Ms. St. Rose on her accomplishments, stating: “This achievement required immense sacrifice and unwavering dedication to her craft—qualities essential for achieving mastery. Let this moment inspire the next generation of legal minds dedicated to shaping a brighter future for Saint Lucia. Congratulations, Renée T. St. Rose, KC.”
Renée T. St. Rose, Partner at FOSTERS, has officially been appointed King’s Counsel (KC), a prestigious legal designation reserved for the most distinguished members of the Bar.
The appointment, effective April 2, 2025, is a significant milestone in her legal career and cements her legacy as the youngest woman to attain this rank in Saint Lucian history.
Reflecting on her journey, St. Rose recounted her early interest in law at the age of 12. “I told my dad that I wanted to be a lawyer. He initially warned me that there were too many lawyers and it would be difficult to stand out,” she recalled.
However, she didn’t let those doubts deter her. By 15, while selecting her CXC subjects, she was resolute in her path, and her father had shifted his perspective.
“He recognized it was a good choice, highlighting that it was a profession that would empower me as a woman and allow me to carve my own path,” she asserted.
That path commenced on December 1, 2003, when she joined Peter I. Foster and Associates, now recognized as FOSTERS. This transition was transformative.
“Many have heard this story before, but as I reflect on this achievement, I can confidently state that it was the moment my career as a lawyer profoundly changed,” she emphasized.
