Message from Ministry of Commerce on Price Controlled Goods

.

The Ministry of Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs advises the public that Price Controlled Goods are regulated by fixed prices or percentage mark-ups. Consumers may have noticed an increase in the prices of some goods which are subject to percentage mark-ups. This is due to high landed costs, as percentage mark-ups are applied to landed costs in order to arrive at wholesale and retail prices.

In light of this, the Consumer Affairs Department wishes to reassure the public that structures are in place to closely monitor the domestic prices of these items. Our team is actively seeking to ensure that consumers benefit from the legislated control mechanisms and are not unfairly impacted by any unavoidable fluctuations in cost. The Department remains committed to protecting consumers and will continue to monitor market trends daily to ensure compliance with all regulations.

For further information, please contact the Consumer Affairs Department at telephone numbers 468-4226, 468-4293, 468-4229 or 468-4239.
