The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia is proud to announce the successful launch of the site’s very own Toastmasters Club, aimed at equipping members with relevant public speaking and leadership skills.
The official launch was held on Tuesday 30th July, 2024, drawing tutors, students, alumni, staff, invigilators and representatives from the Toastmasters Area 15 and District 81. Emerging from diverse backgrounds, attendees were eager to attend the launch which signified the start of the Site’s first co-curricular club.
The meeting highlighted remarks from Mrs Lesley Crane-Mitchell, Head of The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Site who expressed excitement in the number of benefits available to students.
District 81 Programme Quality Director (PQD) Tashi Browne attended the meeting virtually and welcomed the club to the district as Toastmasters International celebrates in 100th year anniversary in 2024.
Area 15 Director Gennifer Faisal congratulated members and encouraged members and visitors to embark on a path that will enhance their skills. The meeting also featured a demonstration of the meeting structure which included a prepared speech, “The Ultimate Nexus” by Distinguished Toastmaster Shavonne Bryan, table topics and evaluations.

The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Toastmasters Club will be hosting its first executive meeting in August, 2024. Membership to the club is open to past and current students (in both CPE courses and senate-approved programmes), tutors, invigilators and staff of the site.
