FIRST Citizens Investment Services, proud Bronze Sponsors of Saint Lucia Carnival, held a special financial knowledge session for the island’s 2024 National Carnival Queen Contestants on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
In its second year of collaboration with the Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC), First Citizens Investment Services (FCIS) hosted this event as part of the character-building exercises and skills training provided to contestants during their preparation for the pageant. This year’s session was themed “Reign with Confidence, Invest with Wisdom.”
FCIS Senior Investment Officer, Nayeebah St Prix, led the interactive session, equipping the contestants with essential financial skills. Topics covered included creating and maintaining a budget, setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound) goals, saving and investing, retirement planning, and investing wisely.
Accompanied by Head Chaperone Mrs. Paula Theophilus, the participating contestants included Aeryn George (Miss Windjammer Landing & Residences), Anneka Thompson (Miss Bank of Saint Lucia), Kadin Antoine (Miss Caribcation), Menella Sebaram (Miss Caribbean Galaxy & Real Estate), Shan Lucien (Miss Bounty Rum), Tunisia President (Miss Pierre Marcel), and Yaneil Joseph (Miss Duty-Free Pointe Seraphine).
The young ladies engaged actively in the session, asking numerous questions about money management. They also participated in a financial quiz, which they aced, demonstrating their newly acquired knowledge and readiness for financial success.
