Saint Lucian swimmer Jayhan Odlum Smith has qualified for the Paris Olympics.
The Seajays Swim Club has congratulated the senior swimmer for being selected to represent Saint Lucia at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
In an online post, Seajays stated, “This remarkable achievement is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent as a swimmer. Seajays is incredibly proud of you, and we are thrilled to see you compete on the world stage. Your journey to this moment has been inspiring to many, including our younger swimmers who look up to you. We do not doubt that you will make us all proud with your performance.”
The Seajays posting continued, “Swim your heart out, give it your all, and know that Seajays, your family, friends, and your country Saint Lucia will be cheering you on every stroke of the way! Go make waves in Paris – you’ve got this!”
Meanwhile, the Seajays Swim Club continued its good form capturing another local championship title.
At the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre – ‘I am Strong’ meet organised by Sharks Swim Club, last Saturday (July 6).
The club amassed 893.50 points, 44 points clear of the second-place team Sharks Swim Club while topping the medal count with 94 medals.
A total of 189 swimmers, ages 8 and under to 18 and over represented the following clubs; Lightning Aquatic, Southern Flying Fish, RR Aquatic, Seajays, Racers, and the host Sharks Swim Club.
Seajays who had the services of Tristan Dorville and D’Andre Blanchard and Lightning Aquatic Niama Hazell – the trio currently on vacation from Colleges in the USA, thrilled those in attendance with some scintillating performances.
Dorville, the 2022 Junior Sportsman of the Year, left no stone unturned smashing three age group records along the way; he also captured the high point award for boys 15- 17 (45 points).
Medal count: Seajays 40 gold, 25 silver, 29 bronze (94); Sharks 20 gold, 33 silver, 27 bronze (80); Lightning Aquatic 17 gold, 15 silver, 7 bronze (39); Southern Flying Fish 6 gold, 8 silver, 11 bronze (25); RR Aquatic 4 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze (15), RHAC 1 gold, 1 bronze (2).
The final points standings, Seajays Swim Club, 1st place with 893.50, 2nd place Sharks, 809.50; 3rd place Lightning Aquatic, 547; 4th place Southern Flying Fish, 246; 5th place RR Aquatic, 197; and 6th place RHAC, 96.
