On Wednesday, the Beausejour Indoor Facility was electrified as the excitement continued into Day 5 of the competition, with women’s volleyball igniting the morning session at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
After navigating some tough challenges, Team Saint Lucia emerged victorious with a resilient 3-1 win.
Dominica started strong, taking an early 4-0 lead in the first set. Despite Team Saint Lucia’s efforts to rally, Dominica held firm and secured the set 25-19.
However, Saint Lucia regrouped in the second set, showcasing sharper reflexes and offensive play, ultimately winning 25-18 to level the match. With renewed confidence, Team Saint Lucia dominated the third set, racing to a 5-0 lead.
Dominica attempted a spirited comeback, but the set ended emphatically in favor of the hosts at 25-10, marking a significant turnaround. The final set saw Team Saint Lucia maintain their momentum, sealing the match with a 25-14 victory.
In the first game, Grenada faced Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in a tightly contested battle. Grenada initially edged ahead, winning the first set 25-22.
However, SVG roared back to claim the following sets decisively, finishing with a commanding 25-19 win in the fourth set after a spirited display.
In another thrilling matchup, Team Saint Lucia bested Grenada 3-1. After a close first half, Saint Lucia surged into a dominant lead by the end of the third quarter, with a score of 32-17, outperforming Grenada with exceptional defense and efficient transitions.
In football, the Team 758 Boys squad remains in strong contention for the championship title, following two consecutive wins.
On Sunday, they edged out St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) 1-0 and then secured another tight victory against Grenada, also 1-0.
In an exciting encounter on Tuesday at the Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds, Gros Islet, the enthusiastic crowd witnessed Saint Lucia’s perseverance as Dee Edward converted in the first minute of added time, sealing the match with a powerful shot after a hard-fought battle.
Earlier, SVG played Dominica, resulting in a thrilling 2-2 draw that showcased exciting play and teamwork.
