A lone individual armed with Molotov cocktails disrupted mother’s Day morning mass at the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Vieux Fort.
A Molotov cocktail is an incendiary weapon typically thrown by hand, comprising a glass bottle filled with flammable substances equipped with a fuse.
According to one church member, the incident occurred during the Sunday service. “The man, walked into the church and tossed two Molotov cocktails in the sanctuary’s direction.”
According to a regular churchgoer, the individual responsible for causing Sunday’s disruption was the same individual who, in similar fashion, had attacked the statue outside of the Pierrot Catholic church while chanting ‘Lava!’.
A few parishioners despite the panic attempted to subdue the individual as they awaited police.
Upon his arrest and containment of the fire, mass was able to resume.
There were no reports of injuries.
