The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) in Saint Lucia is embarking on an innovative project aimed at enhancing its services and networking capabilities for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Recently, NCPD representatives, including President Antonius Tixcy, Second Vice President Miguel Doyle, and Public Relations Officer Ryan O’Brian, met with Giles Romulus, the National Coordinator of the GEF SGP UNDP Saint Lucia programme, to discuss the new initiative.
The project’s primary goal is to design and implement a comprehensive Knowledge Management System, which will significantly enhance the capacity and capabilities of project partners. This will be achieved through more efficient information management processes, alongside improved communication and learning across various stakeholder levels.
Over the next two years, the project aims to accomplish several specific objectives focused on capacity-building and capability improvements. Key initiatives include reviewing and enhancing current information management systems, developing knowledge products, and creating accessible communication materials.
The project will also promote accessibility and universal design principles, ensuring that reasonable accommodations and alternative formats are available for all stakeholders.
Upon completion, the project aims to foster a learning organization within the NCPD, thereby building its capacity to address emerging challenges faced by persons with disabilities in Small Island Developing States. This initiative will also involve the design and execution of at least two high-profile information and advocacy events targeted at policymakers.
The meeting covered crucial aspects such as the Project Proposal, Results Framework, work plan, budgeting, record keeping, procurement, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, and annual reporting, setting a solid foundation for this vital undertaking.
