Housing Minister Richard Frederick has confirmed that he has spoken to officers attached to the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) surrounding allegations levelled against him. Frederick, who was speaking on his Thursday evening online programme ‘Can I Help You?’, recounted that a contingent of law enforcement officers descended on his home during the early hours of Thursday as part of their investigation. He revealed that he was further invited to a police facility for more questioning which he agreed with.
While not revealing the nature of the allegations, Frederick said that after he heard the allegations he realized he “has nothing to fear.” He stated emphatically that “there are certain things I don’t cross boundaries on, never, and never will. I don’t cross those boundaries, I have five daughters, five.” The housing minister suggested that his reluctance to adequately deal with the allegations was due to his desire not to affect the investigations of the police.
Police Commissioner Verne Guarde, on Wednesday, was questioned about rumours concerning the allegations that a government minister was in hot water with the police. The island’s police chief refrained from commenting on the issue.
There have been no further comment or clarification coming from the RSLPF, Frederick or the government.
