Team Saint Lucia Shines at Saint Lucia Golf Open

The Saint Lucia Golf Open 2026 recently concluded with Saint Lucian players dominating the Men’s Division: Habib Chreiki won with a score of 254, followed by Samuel Richelieu (256) and Andre Dhanpaul (257).

The Championship Division completed its final round, and Trinidad & Tobago’s Benjamin Martin claimed the top prize of $7,500 from a $12,000 purse.

The event showcased strong regional talent and competitive play across divisions.

Sports pundits describe the event as a tournament-record setting performance, which concluded, at Sandals Saint Lucia Golf & Country Club.

Chris Richards Jr. won the Championship division, while Saint Lucian players dominated, and Barbados secured the President’s Cup.

The second annual Saint Lucia Golf Open showcased thrilling results as local players excelled in this prestigious sporting event.

With a total of 118 golfers registered—30 more than last year—representing 15 nations, Barbados claimed the President’s Cup.

Notably, Saint Lucian players achieved four significant wins. Barbados golfers finished with a score of 228 over three days, seizing the top position partly due to a lackluster second day for the home team.

Saint Lucia followed closely in second place with a total of 240, while Antigua & Barbuda took third with 241, overtaken by Saint Lucia on the final day. Jamaica finished just behind Antigua, trailing by four points, while Trinidad & Tobago ended the competition 11 points behind the third-place team.

In the Professional Division, marking a new milestone for golf in Saint Lucia, Martin shot 6-over 219 to secure the top prize of USD $7,500, defeating Chris Johnson of the USA, who scored 37 on the final round compared to Martin’s 35. Saint Lucia’s Ryan Daniel finished with a score of 251.

In the Championship Division, Australia’s Dean Richards, a US collegian, triumphed over Barbados’ Xzavier Wiggins by three strokes with a score of 225 to 228, capping off his performance with a stellar 72 in the final round. Saint Lucia’s Keymani Thomas and Harith Khan both tied for third place with scores of 244.

Top finishers were awarded World Amateur Golf Ranking points. Catherine Spooner of Saint Lucia, who finished second last year, maintained consistency with three rounds under 90, totaling 263 and narrowly beating Jamaica’s Lisa Gardner in the Ladies Division by just one stroke.

Saint Lucians swept the Men’s Division, with Habib Chreiki taking the title with a score of 254, followed by Samuel Richelieu with 256 and Andre Dhanpaul in third with 257.

The Seniors title also remained in Saint Lucia, as Tim Mangal shot 222, surpassing Jamaica’s Sean Morris (229) and Barbados’ Scott Stollmeyer (230).

In the Masters category, David March of Saint Lucia finished first with a score of 173 over two days, with Barbados’ Ivan Codrington (175) and Saint Lucia’s Peter Devaux (176) taking the other podium spots. Highlighting the event, Brandon Malon achieved a remarkable Hole-in-One, earning a well-deserved Cabot 2-ball round for his accomplishment.

“With each passing year, the Saint Lucia Open reaches new heights, and 2027 is already shaping up to be our most ambitious edition yet,” said Golf Association PRO Dwayne King. “Building on the momentum of the inaugural Professional Division, we look forward to expanding our field, prizes, and reach across the Caribbean and beyond. Stay tuned for exciting announcements that will engage the regional and international golf community.”
