SPL T20 on the Rampage!

This season’s SPL T20 has continued with an eventful May Day holiday weekend, featuring a full schedule of matches at the Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds in Gros Islet.

As the 2026 NLA SPL T20 Cricket tournament approaches the end of the group stages, teams are making a desperate bid for qualifying spots. The weekend turned up the heat with two batters scoring centuries, bringing their fans plenty to cheer about.

On Sunday, the City Blasters triumphed over the Gros Islet Knights by 8 wickets.

The City Blasters dominated the match and easily chased down the target, as the Knights recorded their lowest total of the tournament. Skipper Melius fought valiantly to lift his team out of a rut but received little support aside from Douglas.

Goodridge and Elibox showcased their bowling prowess, claiming the majority of the wickets as the Knights crumbled under pressure. Their best partnership was a defiant 53 runs between Melius and Douglas.

Blasters captain Naitram led his team to victory with a blistering knock just outside the powerplay. Currently, the City Blasters sit atop the points table with 19 points from 7 matches, followed by the Soufriere Titans and Micoud Eagles, both with 12 points from 7 matches, and Choiseul Craft Masters with 10 points from 7 matches. The Knights are in fifth place with 9 points.

On Friday, the match between Choiseul Craft Masters and Mon Repos Pioneers was abandoned. Batting first, Choiseul posted a total of 194 for 8 in 20 overs; Mon Repos had replied with 15 for 0 in 1 over before the match was called off due to an island-wide power outage.

In keeping with the community spirit of sharing the excitement with fans, the SPL T20 organizers added a special touch to Saturday’s Double Header for children. Young fans who arrived early were treated to gift packages, along with cake and ice cream after the first match.
