On April 21, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Philip J. Pierre, will present his 2026/27 Budget Policy Statement in the House of Assembly.
His Excellency Felix Finisterre, Deputy to the Governor General, will deliver the Throne Speech to commence the formal proceedings.
With a budget of $2.18 billion, the Government’s 2026/27 Budget is the largest in Saint Lucia’s history. It represents a significant step in the Pierre Administration’s ongoing efforts to expand opportunities, strengthen communities, and ensure national development continues to move in a positive direction.
Crafted in close consultation with the Cabinet of Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and senior public officers, this budget is guided by a fundamental principle: the citizens of Saint Lucia must experience the benefits of growth.
A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) emphasized, “This is not a budget designed to look good on paper. It is a budget designed to work for the people, to lift the vulnerable, support those ready to advance, and ensure that no citizen and no community is pushed to the margins of national development.”
The Pierre Administration’s 2026/27 Budget will promote community development initiatives and critical capital projects while building on previous successes. It aims to create new opportunities for growth, investment, and job creation across productive sectors.
PM Pierre has stated, “Development cannot be an abstract idea discussed from a distance. It must reach families. It must touch communities. It must improve lives.”
This belief continues to shape the Government’s policy direction and public investment strategy. As Saint Lucia looks ahead, this budget will lay out a clear path for sustained progress, prioritizing people, broadening opportunities, and deepening the benefits being realized across the country.
The Prime Minister’s Budget Address will be broadcast live on the National Television Network (NTN), Saint Lucia FM (97.3 FM), and participating radio and television stations at 5:00 p.m.
The debate on the Appropriations Bill will follow on Wednesday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m.
Every duly elected Member of Parliament is expected to contribute and will be granted the full entitlements established under the Standing Orders of the House of Assembly.
The Government invites all Saint Lucians to tune in as Prime Minister Pierre outlines a budget that addresses the needs of the people, responds to current demands, and charts the next phase of Saint Lucia’s development.
