Saint Lucia’s celebrated high jumper, Levern Spencer, has once again brought pride to the nation after receiving the prestigious Black Excellence Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship at a distinguished ceremony held in Atlanta, Georgia.
The award was announced and presented by Saint Lucia’s Consul General, Darrel Montrope, during the annual Black Excellence Awards hosted by African Awards USA. The elegant event took place at the renowned Atlanta Marriott Marquis and brought together honourees and supporters from across the diaspora to celebrate achievement, leadership and community impact.
Spencer, a trailblazer in Saint Lucian athletics, has long been admired not only for her outstanding performances on the international stage but also for her unwavering commitment to youth development and community service. Her recognition for Outstanding Sportsmanship highlights both her athletic excellence and the integrity, humility and inspiration she consistently demonstrates.

Joining in support of Spencer were representatives of the St. Lucia Association of Georgia, including President Cornelius Alfred, Vice President Marjorie Douglas and Organizing Secretary Digna (Kim) Williams. Their presence underscored the strong bond within the Saint Lucian diaspora and the collective pride felt in Spencer’s accomplishments.
Throughout her career, Spencer has remained a powerful ambassador for Saint Lucia, carrying the national flag with distinction at regional and international competitions. This latest accolade further cements her legacy as one of the island’s most respected sporting figures.
