Be determined to achieve your goals, and don’t be daunted by the task ahead, despite how challenging it may look.

That’s the advice of a visual impaired artisan from Choiseul to other persons with impairment, who are struggling to cope with their condition.

Hyacinth Daniel, a resident of Debreuil, Choiseul, says that she has never been daunted by her challenges, which has enabled her to learn the skill to earn a living.

She said she obtained the skill of making handicraft from straw from her mother, who was a master of the craft.

Daniel said since primary school she began her craftwork and has not stopped.

She described the weaving of hats, baskets and mats, among others, as a rewarding and creative experience.

“Don’t let your disability keep you back from doing what you want to do. The sky is the limit,” she said, adding that where there is a will, there is a way.

She urges persons with impairment to pursue their dreams with vigor.

According to Daniel, despite her condition, she continues to remain focused on whatever she intends to do.

“I always do the best I can. I don’t let my challenges keep me back,” she said.

Daniel said she has adopted an approach to life that focuses on resilience and cultivating a positive mindset. She said it has enabled her to obtain a market for her produce, which her customers speak about in glowing terms.

However, she added that she is unable to meet the demands for her produce due to a lack of assistance in producing her handiwork.
