Newly appointed Minister for Equity, Labour, Gender and Elderly Affairs, Social Justice and Consumer Welfare, Emma Hippolyte, emphasizes the Government’s dedication to creating a fair and inclusive society during the festive season.

In her Christmas message, she extended heartfelt greetings to Saint Lucians, highlighting the importance of reflection, gratitude, and hope, particularly for the vulnerable.

Acknowledging the contributions of former Ministers Joachim Henry and Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte, Minister Hippolyte expressed her commitment to continue strengthening social protection and equity.

She stated, “Development without equity is incomplete, and growth without dignity is unsustainable,” stressing that social justice must align with economic progress.

Minister Hippolyte commended Saint Lucians for their resilience amidst rising costs and social pressures over the past year. The Ministry has boosted social assistance programs, labor protections, and gender equality initiatives.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, Minister Hippolyte aims for a coordinated approach that translates economic activity into tangible benefits for communities. She called for collaboration with various sectors to ensure fairness, dignity, and sustained support for families and older persons.

As the nation celebrates Christmas, she urged Saint Lucians to show compassion and renew their commitment to social justice and economic opportunity.

On behalf of the Ministry, she wishes everyone a peaceful holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
