ISS Women’s 5K Produces Outstanding Results

On December 11, the 2025 Inter Secondary School (ISS) Women’s 5 Kilometer Road Race, organized by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, delivered an exhilarating display of endurance and determination.

Despite a late start and steady rainfall, the athletes stood ready beside the WASCO Treatment Plant, fully focused on conquering the challenging course. They charged past the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG) scoreboard, turned right at the main entrance, and powered through the National Tennis Centre before navigating the Beausejour Promenade and surrounding areas, ultimately looping back to finish at the DSCG.

McKayla Oliver of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) showcased her dominance, entering the DSCG with authority to cross the finish line first in an impressive time of 23 minutes 01.87 seconds. Khaleigh Landers of Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS) followed closely, finishing in 23 minutes 31.16 seconds, while Angelle Joseph of Clendon Mason Memorial secured third place, battling the downpour to complete the race in 23 minutes 38.94 seconds.

Another standout from SALCC, Abigail Herman, finished fourth in 23 minutes 45.51 seconds, and Daniella Lambert of St. Joseph’s Convent rounded out the top five with a time of 23 minutes 58.81 seconds. Their remarkable performances exemplified grit, resilience, and the unwavering spirit that refused to let the elements dictate their outcome.

In the Under 14 Girls category, Khaleigh Landers of VFCSS claimed victory with her time of 23 minutes 31.16 seconds. Daniella Lambert from St. Joseph’s Convent secured second in 23 minutes 58.81 seconds, while Briann Jean of Saint Lucia Sports Academy clinched third in 24 minutes 00.19 seconds. Sheba Jn Pierre of Castries Comprehensive Secondary finished fourth with 24 minutes 41.98 seconds, and Faith Joseph of Saint Lucia Sports Academy completed the top five in 25 minutes 23.19 seconds.

The Under 16 Girls race was dominated by Saint Lucia Sports Academy, with Laila Nicholas taking first place in 25 minutes 05.91 seconds and Aria Andrew finishing second in 25 minutes 18.91 seconds. Kena Butcher from Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary secured third in 25 minutes 44.31 seconds, while Anna Joseph of Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary placed fourth in 26 minutes 06.56 seconds. Arriana Philip of Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary closed the top five with 26 minutes 20.76 seconds.

In the Under 18 Girls category, Angelle Joseph of Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary emerged victorious with a time of 23 minutes 38.94 seconds. Abigail Herman of SALCC finished second in 23 minutes 45.51 seconds, while Isabelle Emilliene of Saint Lucia Sports Academy claimed third in 24 minutes 54.23 seconds. Nyella Cox of SALCC crossed the line fourth in 25 minutes 35.44 seconds, and Akaiha Weekes of Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary secured fifth in 26 minutes 05.41 seconds.

Lastly, in the Under 20 Girls category, McKayla Oliver of SALCC again displayed her strength, winning in 23 minutes 01.87 seconds. Clerissa Placide, also of SALCC, finished strong in second place with 24 minutes 05.59 seconds, while Layia Jn Baptiste of Saint Lucia Sports Academy rounded out the podium in third with 27 minutes 35.87 seconds.
