CONCACAF W Qualifiers | Piton Girlz Trounced by Puerto Rico

Saint Lucia’s Piton Girlz faced a severe setback, suffering a crushing 7-0 defeat against Puerto Rico in their second match of the ongoing 2026 Concacaf W Championship Qualifiers.

.

After an opening match loss to the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) with a score of 3-1, Saint Lucia’s technical unit expected a significant improvement for this game.

Unfortunately, their expectations fell flat.

On Monday, against Puerto Rico in the USVI, the Piton Girlz’ defense was shockingly ineffective and ill-equipped to handle the relentless offensive pressure.

Puerto Rico’s star striker, skipper Jillienne Aguilera, solidified her team’s dominance with an impressive four-goal haul, scoring in the 4th, 39th, 74th, and 79th minutes. She was supported by goals from Danielle J Marcano in the 12th, Jailene De Jesus in the 18th, and C Tores in the 64th minute, sealing a decisive victory.

In Group A, Mexico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are also in the mix.

Additionally, on November 29, in a Group F encounter, Jamaica’s Reggae Girls delivered an astonishing performance, demolishing Dominica 18-0 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground [DSCG] in Beausejour, Gros Islet. After netting 10 goals in the first half alone, they continued to dominate, adding eight more, five of which came in the final five minutes of the match.

Jamaica’s captain, Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, a Manchester City professional, showcased her exceptional talent with a hat-trick, while Jody Brown, also an overseas-based professional from Olympique De Marseille, delivered another hat-trick to propel the Reggae Girls to the next stage.

In a post-match conference, Dominica’s head coach admitted that his young team, averaging 21 years old and younger, faced a challenging reality against a clearly superior Jamaican side. He emphasized that this experience is crucial for developing a more competitive team in the future.

Conversely, the Jamaican head coach praised his players for their “clinical and professional” performance, acknowledging that while they excelled, there is still room for further improvement as they prepare for upcoming matches next year.

Recent results from the ongoing 2026 Concacaf W Championship Qualifiers, which began on December 1, 2025, include impressive wins for Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, and a notable draw between Guyana and Barbados.
