Despite the dynamic political landscape and election challenges, management, staff, officials, and supporters gathered to celebrate Coco Palm’s 20th anniversary in operations.
This occasion prominently showcased the new and upgraded hotel accommodation, and a guided tour allowed guests to fully appreciate the newly refurbished amenities in the suites and other rooms.
The event also carried a sense of nostalgia, as the founder and owner of the hotel resort, Sir Michael Chastanet, shared his journey in acquiring the property.
Just before celebrating his 90th birthday on December 1, Sir Michael was both lively and confident, detailing the strategies he employed to purchase the estate.
Mistress of Ceremonies and CEO of Coco Palm, Fiola Chastanet, welcomed everyone to this momentous occasion.
“Coco Palm continually raises the bar, and I trust those who toured our premises witnessed our progress over the past few months,” she asserted.
Managing Director Simone Skinner, General Manager Jean St Rose, and other staff members received well-deserved recognition for their vital roles in ensuring a seamless operation.
In a unique twist, staff members engaged in a ‘mini-photo’ contest, capturing vivid images of the outdoors and scenic views. These were displayed on canvas in the hotel rooms, enhancing the cultural and aesthetic ambiance of this hospitality environment.
“It is a pleasure to stand before you and celebrate not only 20 successful years at Coco Palm, but also the essence of our beloved Saint Lucia, as expressed through the eyes of our talented team members, alongside the renewed elegance of our renovated rooms and lobby,” Skinner stated.
She continued, “At the heart of Coco Palm are our people. We take pride in being Saint Lucian-owned, managed, and operated. Our culture, heritage, and language set us apart. To further embrace our Creole culture, we will introduce a Creole Culture Class for our guests next year.”
Sir Michael punctuated his remarks with vivid reflections over the past 21 years, recounting the acquisition of “seven pieces of land” and the transformation of this non-residential property into a premier hotel establishment.
“Coco Palm boasts a prime location in Rodney Bay, just five minutes from the beach,” he emphasized, evoking the serene allure of the area.
He commended the relentless dedication of his daughter, Fiola, and granddaughter Ryan Chastanet, who recently joined the team after her graduation, for their commitment to taking the hotel to new heights.
Sir Michael stated, “This journey is profoundly exciting. We are committed to further development at the hotel, with additional extensions planned. We take great pride in our achievements as a small 120-room operation, employing over 100 staff members, many of whom have been with us for 15 years or more.”
An online promotion highlighting Coco Palm in St. Lucia’s Rodney Bay Village asserts:
