As the host destination for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) for the past 37 years, Saint Lucia undeniably plays a pivotal role in celebrating this global trans-Atlantic crossing, marking the World Cruising Club (WCC) milestone 40th anniversary year.
Over 140 vessels from across the globe are actively participating in this significant global sailing extravaganza, which fosters camaraderie and social networks among nationals and sailors of various skill levels.
By last weekend, more than 100 vessels had successfully crossed the finish line at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina in the 2025 ARC, with all indications showing that the remaining boats will anchor within the next two weeks.
As part of this momentous occasion, the Saint Lucia Tourism Association (SLTA), in collaboration with the Events Company of Saint Lucia (ECSL) and other corporate partners, engaged guests with an inclusive weekend experience.
The celebrations featured a lively ARC Welcome Cocktail at Stony Hill, Monchy, last Friday, followed by a boat ride to the Anse La Raye Fish Fry: ARC edition on Sunday.

In welcoming the yachters to the destination, SLTA’s Public Relations Manager Geraine Georges stated: “Crossing over 2,700 nautical miles is no easy feat…and I am thrilled to see the young children involved.”
She emphasized, “We appreciate the substantial contribution of the ARC to our local economy. The ARC has greatly benefited Saint Lucia over the past 37 years of landing here at the finish line. Overall, celebrating 40 years of the ARC is an enormous accomplishment and a significant milestone.”
Acknowledging the WCC’s efforts, Georges asserted that the SLTA “is particularly impressed with the ARC’s involvement in the health sector this year,” highlighting their active participation in the Blood Drive and Donation campaign.
A representative from the Ministry of Tourism expressed excitement, stating, “We are delighted to warmly welcome you (yachters) to Saint Lucia as you embark on this remarkable journey.”
The official pointed out, “In celebrating 40 years, we take immense pride in having Saint Lucia as the anchor leg of your journey. This event is vital in supporting our local businesses and showcasing the essence of what Saint Lucia represents.”
WCC’s Paul Tetlow declared, “This celebration marks the beginning of an exciting week of activities here in Saint Lucia, and we intend for you to thoroughly enjoy the festivities as we honour your fantastic achievement.”
On Sunday, participants revelled in the stunning scenery aboard catamaran boats, as the ‘party fleet’ of sailors, tourism representatives, and media personnel sailed to the picturesque seaside village, receiving an enchanting welcome from the Pantime Steel Orchestra, complemented by carnival-costumed performers.
The festivities continued on the bay side, featuring a stage set on the beach sands that provided ample entertainment from the DYP band, alongside masqueraders, stilt walkers, and other performers.
