Young Talent Shines at Inter-Secondary Table Tennis Championships

Young, skilled table tennis players from the island’s top educational institutions recently gathered for the exhilarating 2025 Inter-Secondary Schools Table Tennis Individual Championships at the Castries Table Tennis Centre in Vide Boutielle.

The championship produced an electrifying day of rallies, showcasing precision and passion as 96 of the island’s best competed for national glory following preliminary rounds that featured 148 athletes from across Saint Lucia.

The knockout stages highlighted the top 16 boys and girls in the Under-13, Under-15, and Under-19 categories. The level of competition was nothing short of spectacular, reflecting the rising standard of table tennis within Saint Lucia’s schools.

Girls Under-13: A Clash of Champions
– In a showdown between two former primary school singles champions, Lyzan Seraphin of Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) demonstrated exceptional control and composure, decisively defeating Eurnisha Braville of Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS) in straight sets, 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-9).

In the Boys’ division, Andretti George from St. Mary’s College (SMC) claimed the Under-13 title after a thrilling final against Juan Fri-as from Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS), winning 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 13-11).

Girls Under-15:
Shatal Charles of the Saint Lucia Sports Academy dominated her match against Amaya Emmanuel of Soufrière Comprehensive Secondary, winning confidently 3-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-8). Her exceptional performance propelled her to also secure the Under-19 Champion title and the Female MVP award, finishing the tournament with an impeccable 24-0 record.

Boys Under-15:
Leshon Francis of Castries Comprehensive Secondary outclassed Landen Felicien of St. Mary’s College, winning emphatically in straight sets, 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-5).

Girls Under-19:
Shatal Charles proved her champion status once again, capturing her second title of the day by defeating Daniella Symphorien of Castries Comprehensive 3-1 (11-8, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7).

Boys Under-19:
The final match showcased Leshon Francis (CCSS) as he claimed the Under-19 Boys Title, defeating Manie Eleuthere of Ciceron Secondary School 3-1 (11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 11-5).

With an impressive 22-0 record, Francis earned the Male MVP title, adding to his impressive list of achievements.

The tournament also recognized the outstanding performances of Delon Joseph and Meshach Cox from Vieux Fort Special Education Centre, who advanced to the quarter-finals. Their school proudly reached the quarter-finals in both team events, marking a significant achievement for their institution’s sports unit.
