SMC Crowned Champions of Under-15 Schools Football

St. Mary’s College (SMC) delivered a commanding performance to secure the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under-15 School Football Title, defeating Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time.

On November 11, the finals at the Technical Center in Grande Riviere, Dennery, were electrifying. Students, supporters, and parents filled the stands, eager for an intense showdown.

SMC took the lead with McDonald’s goal in the 55th minute, igniting a celebration among their supporters. SCSS responded swiftly, equalizing with Kyemani Louisy’s strike in the 59th minute, keeping the excitement alive.

The tension escalated as McDonald netted another goal in the 68th minute, putting SMC ahead 2-1 and sending their fans into another round of cheers.

In a dramatic turn, Demari Justin of SCSS delivered a crucial equalizer in the 74th minute, forcing the match into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. With everything on the line, SMC maintained their composure and triumphed over SCSS 4-3 in the shootout, securing the coveted title.

Earlier that day, the third-place playoff saw Saint Lucia Sports Academy dominate Micoud Secondary School (MSS) with a decisive 3-0 victory.

Melan Cools opened the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by Tai Joseph’s goal in the 70+1 minute, and an unfortunate own goal by Kohli Vitalis in the 70+4 minute sealed the win.

SCSS claimed their well-deserved bronze medal, with supporters energizing the Technical Center. Their enthusiasm showcased that school-level football is more than just a game; it is a celebration of pride, unity, and community.

At the post-match awards presentation, the following prizes were awarded:

– Most Goals – Kai Alexander – SMC

–  Best Defender  – Shachez Felix – SCSS

– Best Goalkeeper – Iyami Lambert (SCSS)

– MVP of the Final – Jaelan McDonald – SMC

Second-Place Trophy and Silver Medals – Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School 

Third-Place Trophy and Bronze Medals – Saint Lucia Sports Academy
