His father Vernon Labadie, subsequently died from his injuries after he was dealt a fatal blow to his head. The other victims of the incident, which occurred on January 31, 2025, were his wife, daughter and grandson.
The gruesome incident, which occurred in their home at Industry, Choiseul, had left the entire community shattered in grief.
Two men have been charged in connection with the incident, and are now on remand at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF).
According to Robert Labadie, every time he goes to the family’s home, where the incident occurred, he is overwhelmed with emotions.
“Every Friday night I am crying because that was the day the incident occurred. Sometimes my mind goes astray,” he lamented.
According to him, he is having a very difficult time coming to terms with the harsh reality.
Labadie said the incident occurred at a time when his sister, Vernancia Labadie, who was a cadet officer, was in the process of joining the Royal St Lucia Police Force (RSLPF).
“There are fingers on her right hand that can’t move,” he said, adding that she and his mother are taking therapy.
Labadie said the wheels of justice are turning too slow.
“I really want justice to be served in the matter. I can’t wait for it to happen. Somebody needs to be convicted for the offence. It’s taking too long,” he said, in a voice filled with emotion.
