Creole Heritage Month celebrations have officially kicked off, setting the stage for a series of exciting events.
Under the theme “Kwéyol Sé Fos Nou” – “Creole is our strength”, Creole Heritage Month will feature a range of cultural, musical, and culinary experiences.
The activities will take place in various locations throughout the island, with Babonneau and Belle Vue serving as host communities.
Organizers are promising an authentic experience, with events designed to showcase the island’s Creole heritage.
“We’re encouraging everyone to come and support,” Creole representative for Babonneau Aldrick Edward said, noting that “Babonneau is full of culture.”
Kendell Elva, Creole Rep for Belle Vue, added “We’re… going to … give people a real experience of how things used to be long ago.”
This year, Creole Heritage Month will feature traditional river washing, vibrant pageants, a bouyon competition, jazz session, storytelling, traditional games, Woulélaba and more.
