As part of the ongoing Tiller Week celebrations, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Marine Unit participated in, what has been described as, a day of meaningful community engagement in Canaries on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Sunday began with officers joining the local congregation at a special Mass at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Anthony. The police marine unit also made a sizable donation in a heartfelt effort to assist with the rehabilitation of the church’s roof, an important step, the unit believes, in preserving a cherished piece of Canaries’ cultural and religious heritage.
In an effort to further emphasize their commitment to community policing, members of the Police Marine Unit, in collaboration with the MAC Police Team, distributed nine (9) food hampers to families in need across the community. The initiative aimed to offer relief and support to vulnerable households as part of the force’s broader mission of service beyond law enforcement.
The day concluded with a spirited friendly football match between the Canaries Veterans Football Team and a joint police team composed of officers from both the Marine Unit and MAC Police. While the police team secured a win on the scoreboard, the true victory was the unity, camaraderie, and mutual respect fostered through sport.
These Tiller Week activities are expected to reflect the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s ongoing dedication to building strong, trusting relationships with communities island-wide and serving with compassion and integrity.
