Statement — At 5:00 p.m. on March 06, 2026, Saint Lucia experienced an island wide power outage.
The outage was caused by the unexpected operation of a protection system at LUCELEC’s Cul De Sac plant and resulted in a total shutdown of the electricity system.
Following investigations, power restoration commenced at 5:50 p.m. with supply progressively returning across the island. Restoration was completed at 8:09 p.m.
LUCELEC has initiated a detailed review of the event as part of its standard post-incident process.
LUCELEC apologises to its valued customers for this unplanned island-wide outage and for the inconvenience caused.
