
Local fans and visitors gathered in large numbers for the 20th edition of the popular Color Me Red carnival fete, which showcased an impressive array of Afro-Caribbean music.
CMR made a significant impact for its anniversary, featuring a lineup of top Lucian artists alongside the highly acclaimed Invasion Band, which boldly opened the event and set the perfect tone for Friday night’s exhilarating jam session.
Without a doubt, the featured artist, Kes the Band, delivered a remarkable performance, infusing the crowd with energetic Caribbean beats and irresistible Soca tunes that had everyone on their feet.
With his high-energy delivery and captivating stage presence, Kes electrified the audience, declaring Saint Lucia “special” and proudly recognizing the ‘Simply Beautiful Isle’ as one of the world’s most stunning destinations.

Deejays kept the vibrant crowd engaged, taking the opportunity to boost the excitement around Dominica’s upcoming World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), scheduled for October 24 to 26, which promises to be a spectacular celebration of Caribbean music and culture. Saint Lucia’s top jam band, DYP – the Derek Yarde Project, seamlessly entered the late-night party scene, immediately captivating the audience with their hit song, “In the Middle.” Guest performer Teddyson “TJ” John joined them on stage, delighting the crowd with his selections and warmly welcoming visitors to the festivities.
Grenadian artist Blacka Dan entertained fans with his popular hit, “Blessing,” delivering a ‘spicy-dicey’ tune that demanded an extended encore.
Blacka Dan is known for his Soca track “Blessing.” The song, which celebrates positivity and resilience, contains the lyric “The Day You Leave Me Was a Blessing.” Blacka Dan achieved a significant milestone by winning Soca Monarch in Trinidad and Tobago with this song, becoming the first non-Trinidadian artist to win. This achievement highlights the song’s popularity and impact within the Caribbean music scene.
Lady Lava, also known as the ‘Queen of the Freaks,’ closed the night with her powerful performance, commanding the audience and keeping them moving and swaying to her infectious rhythms.
Keisha Harris aka Lady Lava, is a Trinidadian singer and songwriter who specializes in Soca and Dancehall music. She is known for her stage persona, “Queen of the Freaks”, and her captivating performances. Lady Lava has been steadily gaining recognition, evolving from a local sensation to a regional and now, a growing presence on the global charts.
