
This week, the Under-16 Secondary School Basketball Competition at the Beausejour Indoor Facility showcased intense matchups, impressive performances, and unforgettable moments.
Entrepot Secondary School (ESS) solidified its winning streak with a commanding 26-17 victory over Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS).
ESS executed full-court pressure flawlessly, forcing CCSS into 24 turnovers that led to numerous fast-break opportunities. ESS took an early lead, holding a 4-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter and extending it to 12-8 by halftime.
They maintained control throughout the second half, decisively outscoring CCSS 14-9. Yanik Melius shone with eight points, two rebounds, two steals, and one assist.
Azaria Leon and Rohan Cox contributed four points each, while Jeremiah Florent, Kobe Francis, Hasan Simon, and Imani Gonzaga each added two points. For CCSS, Jeannarl Louis led the score with eight points, two rebounds, and one steal. David Chandler had a notable performance with four points, 10 rebounds, one steal, and one block, while Kwan St. Luce and Jaden Gabriel chipped in with two points each.
In a dominant display, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) triumphed over Patricia D. James Secondary School (PDJS) with a resounding 43-14 victory, marking PDJS’s third straight loss in the tournament.
SCSS seized control from the outset, racing to a 23-8 lead at halftime. Chaz Alexander delivered a standout performance, scoring 24 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out one assist.
Clayshawn John added eight points, Kyronne Sydney four points, and Sachez Felix two points. Patricia D. James Secondary School saw Rushawn Williams excel with six points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and one assist.
Waydell Etienne contributed four points, six rebounds, two steals, and one assist, while Codell Jean Jacques and Jeanaii Nichols each scored two points.

In a high-stakes encounter, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS) clashed with St. Mary’s College (SMC) in an exhilarating battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats. LHCSS started strong with an 11-9 lead after the first quarter.
However, St. Mary’s College bounced back, securing a one-point lead, 18-17, at halftime. The game remained tightly contested, with SMC edging out a 27-24 lead by the end of the third quarter.
With seconds left on the clock, Sage Lewis had a chance to equalize at the free-throw line but failed to convert, allowing SMC to narrowly escape with a 35-33 victory.
For SMC, Rawlins Estwick made his mark with eight points, 11 rebounds, and one assist. Requelme Pierre added seven points, four rebounds, and five steals, while Jabari Archibald contributed six points, eight rebounds, one steal, one assist, and one block.
Rane Gustave capped the scoring with four points and five rebounds. For LHCSS, Sage Lewis led the team with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals. Christopher Thakur provided strong support with six points, six rebounds, and three steals, while Ahlil Cyril contributed four points, two rebounds, and two steals.
