The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Toastmasters Club has made an impressive mark on the Toastmasters community, securing two out of three top placements at the recent Area Contest. This remarkable achievement comes just months after the club’s establishment in July 2024, showcasing the dedication and excellence of its members. The event took place on Monday 17th February 2025 at the Blue Coral Mall, Castries.
Two members of The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Toastmasters Club emerged victorious in their respective categories resulting in Shavonne Bryan earning 1st place in the Evaluation Contest and Siguthani Bryan earning 1st place in the Table Topics Contest and 3rd place in the International Speech Contest. The success highlights the club’s commitment to developing strong communicators and confident public speakers despite it being the youngest of the four clubs on the island.
Yvonne Edwin, a past student of The UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia and member of the Public Service Toastmasters Club, was awarded 1st place in the International Speech Contest. Her speech was entitled, ‘What’s Love got to do with it?’
“This contest was nothing short of exceptional where our young club secured two wins out of the three categories of competitions. It sets the bar high for members and will remain the benchmark for our club moving forward,” said Shavonne Bryan, President of the UWI Global Campus Saint Lucia Toastmasters Club. “Despite being a newly formed club, our members have demonstrated exceptional speaking and leadership skills, and we are proud of their achievements.”
With this outstanding performance, the club looks forward to continued success in upcoming competitions while continuing to empower individuals with the confidence and skills needed for effective communication and leadership.
