The demolition of the Customs and Excise Department Building on Jeremie Street, completed in the early hours of Saturday, 21 December, and Sunday, 22 December, marks the official launch of the highly anticipated port redevelopment project in Castries. This milestone signals the beginning of an ambitious journey to modernise and enhance Saint Lucia’s cruise tourism facilities and better position the island as a premier cruise tourism destination.
Demolition works were strategically undertaken during the night hours to minimize traffic disruption and ensure public safety. All key stakeholders and residents within the vicinity of the demolition site were informed well ahead of all scheduled demolition works in an effort to ensure a smooth and seamless process.
