RSLPF Operation Results in Arrests, Firearm and Ammunition Recovery

ON Monday, December 23, 2024, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Special Operations Team (RSLPF) performed an exercise in the Northern Division. 

Throughout the operation, the officers made a number of stops and searches resulting in 56 people being searched, and seven motorcycles impounded for various violations.

Officers stopped and searched a suspicious individual at about 4:40 p.m. on the same day. During the search, one Glock 9×19 pistol with an auto sear and sixteen rounds of 9mm ammo were found.

Kyle Castello, a twenty-three-year-old male suspect, was detained and charged with possessing a prohibited weapon and ammunition. Castello applied for bail but was ordered into jail.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, the Southern Division of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) carried out the Pre-Holiday Sweep. Seven warrants to search for property were executed, and one firearm was found.

Officers targeted critical places such as Cantonment, Grace, Bruceville, and Clarke Street in Vieux-Fort. During a search of Cantonment, officers located and seized an unlawfully acquired handgun. A male occupant of the premises was apprehended.

Cornelius Evans, 29, of Cantonment, Vieux-Fort, was recognised as the person in question. Cornelius Evans was charged with Possession of a Firearm on Friday, December 20, 2024, and appeared before the Second District Court for bail.

The court issued a bail of twenty thousand dollars (XCD 20,000.00), either in cash or with a qualified surety.
