On Thursday, November 7, plans for the sixth instalment of Ronald “Boo” Hinkson’s “Show the World” concert event was unveiled.
The occasion was in recognition of the many sponsors, media and others who have continued to support the event over the years.
The annual “Show the World” event, features amazing homegrown talent under the direction of Hinkson, performing original music as well as covers.
This year’s event takes place at the Sandals Grande Ball room on November 30, 2024 and according to organizers, will be very celebratory in recognition of the many achievement Saint Lucia and Saint Lucians have acquired this year.
These have included numerous travel and tourism awards as well as the achievements of the national swim, chess and volleyball teams, Saint Lucia Kings, Johnson Charles, Darren Sammy, Shan Lucien, Chef Orlando and of course Julien Alfred.
Hinkson himself made it to the Radio Top 100 Jazz Songs in Hungary with the song “My Good Day” which was on the charts for over 45 weeks, peaking at number five.
“We are going to be very celebratory this year because there’s so much Saint Lucia has to celebrate you know, Ju Ju, Daren Sammy, and Johnson Charles, a lot more we have to celebrate. So, this year the music will be less cerebral because I want people to come out and have a good time, sing along, and have a good night with us,” Hinkson said during last Thursday’s event.
“It’s going to be a great show. There’s going to be a lot of great young talent. I’m going to have some regulars with me, but rest assured, you’re going to have a great time,” he went on to say.
Real Foods Inc. franchise holders of KFC, is one of the sponsors for “Show the World”. According to Damian Biscette of Real Foods Inc, it has been a pleasure sponsoring the event as it aligns with their core values, that of giving young talent a platform.
“This is one aspect that we’re very impressed with. I think it’s a worthy cause to sponsor because a lot of those talents might not be recognized or never be discovered,” he shared.
Biscette went on to add that over the years he has been very impressed with the quality of the event and was very happy to continue being a sponsor.
Another key sponsor is Lewis Industries, whose manager Andre Lewis said that he has been a fan and a supporter of Hinkson since his days with the Tru Tones.
“Since then I have always done what I can to promote Boo and his music and for the third year we are quite happy to be sponsoring Show the World, as it aligns with what we believe in, that of putting in the hard work to produce the best,” Lewis says.
Also present on Thursday were representatives from Financial Investment and Consultancy Services (FICS), Caribbean Metals and Events Saint Lucia as well as several media representatives.
Other sponsors for Show the World include The Ministry of Creative Industries, Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF), Innovative Business Solutions, Baron Foods, Domino’s Pizza, Tropical Shipping and CPJ.
Organizers for Show the World say that patrons can come ready to party and celebrate greatness on November 30 and that the event is a great segue into the Christmas season.
