Derek Walcott Square will come alive in celebration of the Saint Lucia Kings, the champions of the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
This announcement was made by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports (MYDS) during a press conference held on Monday.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Uralise Delaire revealed that from November 14 to 17, the West Indies will face England in Saint Lucia as part of the Home International Series, featuring three T20 matches.
“This tournament gives us another opportunity to honour and celebrate the members of the Saint Lucia Kings team. During the three matches scheduled at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, at least nine members of the SLK franchise, including management, will be present in Saint Lucia,” she stated.
Dr. Delaire added, “The Government has listened to the voices of the people of Saint Lucia and is providing both human and financial resources to recognize the remarkable and thrilling victory of the Saint Lucia Kings.”
The celebration is set for Tuesday, November 12, starting at 2:00 p.m. Various school cricket teams will have the opportunity to interact and take pictures with the Kings’ players.
Following this, at 4:00 p.m., the general public is invited to a grand concert showcasing the best of local culture.
