The National (Saint Lucia) Consumer Association (NCA) is pleased to announce the election of its new Executive Committee following the recent Biennial General Meeting. The elected leaders are dedicated to advancing consumer rights and enhancing the association’s efforts to promote fair trade practices across the nation.
The executive members are, President: Dr. Thecla Lewis, Vice President: Vanya Reid-Hinkson, General Secretary: Cindy Emmanuel-McLean, Treasurer: Sheri-Ann Aurelien, Assistant Treasurer/Assistant Secretary: Linda Berthier, Public Relations Officer: Phil Henderson, Trustee: Nancy Francis. Trustee: Ronald “Boo” Hinkson. Immediate Past President: Hubert James
Dr. Thecla Lewis, re-elected unopposed as President for her second term, brings extensive experience in consumer advocacy and a passionate commitment to protecting consumer interests. Her continued leadership aims to strengthen the NCA’s role in fostering a fair and transparent marketplace. Vanya Reid-Hinkson, elected as Vice President, is a young professional with significant experience in non-profit organizations. Her excellent networking capabilities and dedication to empowering consumers through education and engagement will ensure that their voices are heard at all levels. Cindy McLean, serving as General Secretary, focuses on enhancing communication and administrative efficiency within the NCA to better serve its members and the wider community. Linda Berthier, elected as Assistant Treasurer/Assistant Secretary and a recent member of the NCA, is a health professional who brings fresh perspectives and expertise in health matters. Her contributions will be invaluable in addressing consumer issues related to health and wellness. Sheri-Ann Aurelien, previously the General Secretary and now elected as Treasurer, remains committed to maintaining financial transparency and accountability, overseeing the association’s financial stewardship with diligence. Phil Henderson, continuing his role as Public Relations Officer for a second term, will persist in spearheading efforts to amplify the NCA’s presence in the media and increase public awareness of consumer rights and issues. Ronald “Boo” Hinkson, serving as a Trustee, offers invaluable guidance and oversight, drawing from his vast experience and dedication to community service. Nancy Francis, also serving as a Trustee, is a healthcare management specialist with a rich background in data analysis, quality management and resource management. She is results-oriented and brings excellence to the NCA in her approach to advocacy. Hubert James, the Immediate Past President, will continue to support the Executive Committee with his expertise and insights gained during his tenure, ensuring continuity and stability within the association.
The re-election of Dr. Thecla Lewis, Ms. Sheri-Ann Aurelien, and Mr. Phil Henderson signifies a strong vote of confidence in their leadership and the progress achieved during their first terms.
The executive team is united in their commitment to championing the rights of consumers, proactively addressing issues affecting the public and providing resources and information to help consumers make informed decisions in an ever-changing marketplace.
The team will be working closely with stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, and other organizations, to promote fair trade practices and consumer protection, while enhancing communication with members and the wider community to better understand and address consumer concerns effectively.

The NCA is also calling on consumers to share their experiences and concerns with it to help address the issues that matter most to them and to participate in upcoming workshops, seminars, and campaigns designed to inform and empower consumers.
