Cabot Saint Lucia has formalised a partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Youth Resilience, Inclusion and Empowerment (Y-RIE) programme to champion youth empowerment and resilience in Saint Lucia. This collaboration aims to support sustainable initiatives that tackle critical challenges faced by young people, including exposure to violence at home and in communities, limited job opportunities, and educational setbacks.
The Y-RIE programme works with government, civil society, and private sector leaders to enhance community resilience and youth empowerment across Saint Lucia, Guyana, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago. Through focused interventions, Y-RIE works to improve educational outcomes, prepare youth for the workforce, and create safe, inclusive communities that enable long-term success of youth and families.
Cabot Saint Lucia and Y-RIE will combine their resources and expertise to drive community-led projects that promote violence prevention, education, and work readiness for youth who face critical challenges. “Cabot Saint Lucia is showing that when the private sector steps up, we’re not only addressing immediate issues but building the workforce and leadership of tomorrow,” said Aurore Dorelien, Deputy General Development Director, USAID.
This partnership includes annual reviews of Y-RIE’s program initiatives to explore alignment on impactful projects, financial and in-kind support, internships, job readiness training, and community events. Specially designed workshops will also focus on training and developing Cabot employees to become effective mentors to guide vulnerable youth, interns and young team members.
In the first year, Cabot will support initiatives such as the Ignite: Learning Business by Doing Business program, along with paid internships and site visits aimed at inspiring participants.
Additionally, Cabot will collaborate with youth-centered social programmes, including Our Boys Matter, a Y-RIE and SSDF partnership, and upcoming after-school programs, to amplify the impact of these joint efforts in local communities.
“Cabot’s commitment extends beyond golf; we are invested in fostering sustainable community development,” said Rob Roxborough, General Manager of Cabot Saint Lucia. “We see a clear alignment with the USAID Y-RIE mission and values, as well as the transformative impact these programs can have on our community.”
This partnership is expected to create lasting, positive change throughout Saint Lucia, reflecting Cabot’s dedication to community advancement and social responsibility.
