NIC Reintroduces Golden Citizens Programme – New Gold Card Launched

.

THE National Insurance Corporation (NIC) reintroduced its Golden Citizens Programme yesterday-one that comes with many perks.

According to the NIC, the main aim of the programme is to reduce the financial burden on pensioners by offering exclusive discounts.

Approximately 60 businesses, both large and small have registered to participate in the programme that offers discounts of up to 20% on goods and services as well as other incentives.

“Since 2004 the programme has been a beacon of support and today we’re thrilled to present a reimagined version. With exclusive discounts covering everything from healthcare to leisure activities, we aim to make the golden years of our retirees truly golden. And the best part: the gold card programme is now available to all NIC retirement pensioners,” host Tracy Pilgrim-George said at yesterday’s ceremony.

Shervon Alfred, Communications Manager NIC noted that it “is indeed a momentous occasion. It is a demonstration of our commitment at the National Insurance Corporation to honour and to celebrate the golden years of our retired pensioners.”

“At a time when we are faced with the ever-rising tide of inflation, the Golden Citizens Programme will ensure that our retirees can enjoy their senior years in comfort and with dignity. We have been able to secure the support of businesses across the island. These businesses recognize the importance of giving back to those who have given so much to the development of our nation and to them I extend our heartfelt gratitude,” Alfred added.

From grocery stores such as Massy’s Stores to pharmacies like M&C Drugstore and Total Health Care, “from doctors and dentists, to restaurants and recreation, the Golden Citizens Programme spans across sectors. We even have auto parts for when your vehicle breaks down and spas to help you ease the stress. That is why the theme for this programme ‘Celebrating your golden years with exclusive rewards’ is so appropriate,” he noted.
