Following a highly successful study tour of Saint Lucia, University of Guyana International Relations students were the beneficiaries of a lecture delivered by Honourable Alva Baptiste, Minister of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs of Saint Lucia on Thursday, 28th November, 2023.

The lecture was hosted by the Department of Government and International Affairs of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University’s Turkeyen Campus.

Minister Baptiste lectured on the topic of “International (dis)order: conflicts and their implications for the Caribbean”. He stressed on the multifaceted nature of the issues confronting the region and championed the need for strong collective responses, underpinned by courage and conviction.

Minister Baptiste was joined by Honourable Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development of Grenada who spoke on a number of areas within the same topic and backed up Minister Baptiste’s call for clarity and consistency in the region’s foreign policy thrust.
