Two Arrested for Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Ammunition, Controlled Drugs and Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply

One Glock 19 pistol and several live rounds of 9 mm ammunition and .40 calibre ammunition were found by police during a Sweep, Stop and Search Operation in Dennery last Friday at about 9:00 in the night.

According to a police report, officers of the Dennery Police Station and Special Service Unit intercepted a grey Suzuki Baleno, which was occupied by two male individuals.  A search conducted on the vehicle revealed:

• One (1) Glock 19 pistol with a magazine containing seven live rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

• A second magazine containing 15 live rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

• A red and black box containing 50 live rounds of 9 mm ammunition,

• Seven live rounds of 9 mm ammunition and11 live rounds of .40 calibre ammunition was found wrapped in clear polythene bag.

All these were found in a camouflage bag on the back seat of the vehicle. Neither of the occupants produced a valid Firearm licence.

A further search of the vehicle also revealed in the trunk, six polythene bags containing green plant material which is suspected to be Cannabis and a quantity of a substance suspected to be Crack Cocaine. The occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested for the offences of   Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition without a valid licence and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Drugs.

The occupants have been identified as 26-year-old Liam Velinor of Denniere Rivere, Dennery and 29-year-old Carlton King of Aux Lyon, Dennery.

On Saturday November 25, 2023, both individuals were charged for the Offences of Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply.

They are scheduled to be taken to the Magistrate’s Court for the purpose of bail hearing.
