THIS season’s KFC Saint Lucia Premier League (SPL) T20 tournament has reached the final stages, following the completion of the preliminary rounds that got underway on October 13.

Today (Saturday), the third place playoff between MCCU Mon Repos Pioneers and Sails Gros Islet Knights will be at 3 pm and theΒ  finals will be played between Avitar Micoud Eagles and SRDF Soufriere Stumpers, at 7 pm. Both games will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground [DSCG].

In the first semi-final played, on November 1 (Wednesday), Avitar Micoud Eagles beat MCCU Mon Repos Pioneers.

Former West Indies captain and current head coach of the Windies β€˜white-ball’ format, Daren Sammy, Micoud Eagles skipper, put on an all-round display to lead his team to victory. In the process, Sammy was given the Player of the Match Award.

Mon Repos Pioneers 138/10 (20 overs) – Sabinus Emmanuel 44 (35) 5×4, 2×6, Christian Charlery 20(17) 1×4, 1×6; Daren Sammy 4/22 (4 overs), Ted Jonas 3/30 (4overs).

Micoud Eagles 140/8 (19.1 overs) – Sanjay Pamphille 23* (17) 2×4, 1×6, Daren Sammy 15 (7) 2×4, 1×6, Mervin Wells 15 (17) 2×4; Hayzel Charlery 4/11 (4 overs), Jamal Lesmond 2/21 (4 overs).

Result: Micoud Eagles won 8 wickets.

On Thursday, in Semi-Final #2, SRDF Soufriere Stumpers defeated Sails Gros Islet Knights.
