Probe Launched into Suspected Drowning of American National

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has launched a probe into a suspected drowning incident at Sugar Beach Resort last Sunday.

It has been reported that officers of the Soufriere Police Station were responding to a report at the Resort when they heard a cry for help at about 11: 10 in the morning.

The officers proceeded towards the sea shore where they observed a male individual carrying the lifeless body of a female individual out of the water.  CPR was immediately administered by the male individual but the victim was unresponsive.   Emergency Medical Technicians from the Saint Lucia Fire Service also responded and continued administering CPR.

The victim, identified as Elena Norris, 50, American national, was transported to a medical facility via ambulance where she was pronounced dead by a Medical Practitioner.  A post mortem has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
