The United Workers Party (UWP) is planning a protest march to send a strong message to government that it has failed Saint Lucians. The party’s stalwart, Nancy Charles said this much on Sunday.
“We have to take our placards and we have to send a strong message to the Labour Party that enough is enough. If you are suffering come and march with us; we will give you the date soon,” Charles said at a Town Hall meeting in Belle Vue.
According to her, “we are going down the drain and we are going down fast; we need to stop the bleed.”
Pointing to St. Jude Hospital, the high cost of living and gas prices amongst others, Charles said that something has to be done about what is happening in Saint Lucia.
“We want everybody to come and march with the United Workers Party… take to the streets and let your voice be heard because this is the only language the Saint Lucia Labour Party understands,” she said.
Former Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee told the audience “when we march, we must march against the tax. We must march against taxing your pockets.”
Adding to the chorus, UWP Chairman Therold Prudent told supporters “we have to win the next elections. It is about Saint Lucia and the direction in which this government is taking us. We are going to demand that they ring the bell.”
